About the Event

A casual discussion between industry experts, aimed at giving you all the information you need to feel confident about studying in the UK during and after the coronavirus pandemic.

The webinar is in collaboration with Universities UK International, as part of the #WeAreTogether campaign. You will get the opportunity to ask the panel questions, as well as respond to surveys and polls.

Panelists include Vivienne Stern (Director, UUKI), Bobby Mehta (Chair, BUILA and Director of Global, University of Portsmouth) and Sadiq Basha (CEO and Founder, Edvoy).

Our speakers

Vivenne Stern-1

Vivienne Stern

Vivienne is the Director of Universities UK International (UUKi) which represents UK universities around the world and works to enable them to flourish internationally.

She is a member of several Boards and advisory committees, including the Education Sector Advisory group of the Department for Education /Department for International Trade; the Board of UKRI’s Fund for International Collaboration; the British Council’s Education Advisory Group.

She is a graduate in English Literature from the University of Cambridge.

Sadiq Basha

Sadiq’s ambition to make education truly global and accessible for all led him to fund his first company in 2006, IEC Abroad, an education consultancy provider that has now helped over 20,000 students worldwide achieve their academic ambitions. Soon followed two other business, New College Group and Zudo Innovations.

Most recently, Sadiq founded Edvoy with a vision to simplify the world of education, by empowering students to make more informed decisions throughout their journey using technology.

He is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Greenwich.

Bobby Mehta

Bobby Mehta

Bobby started at the University of Portsmouth in April 2017 when he was appointed to the position of International Director. He is also serving on the Executive Committee of the British Universities' International Liaison Association (BUILA)  as the Chair of the Association. Bobby’s vast experience is in Higher Education and is particularly related to admissions, partnerships, recruitment and business development. 

He is a graduate in E-Business Management and Marketing and Travel & Tourism from the University of Bedfordshire.

  • What is the UK government doing to assist international students during this time?
  • What have universities done so far to help international students?
  • How prepared are universities to teach some elements of courses online if necessary?
  • What will happen to international students if the UK goes into lockdown again?
  • What are UK universities doing to ensure that the value and reputation of their degrees remains, even if all teaching takes place online?
  • Will coronavirus have ongoing implications for September 2021 admissions?
  • What will happen if there are coronavirus outbreaks at certain universities?
  • How can international students best prepare for life in the UK with coronavirus?

The #WeAreTogether campaign aims to provide reassurance to future international students to continue with their plans to study in the UK during COVID-19. You can follow the campaign on Instagram @WeAreTogether_UK, where you will find video testimony from over 100 international students who are currently enrolled at UK universities, as well as many student blogs. More than 90 UK universities have taken part in the campaign to date.
